QVSR Chief Executive Awarded Merchant Navy Medal

The Merchant Navy Medal is awarded annually to those eligible seafarers who have made a worthwhile contribution to merchant shipping. Only a limited number of medals are awarded to people who are not British Merchant Seafarers themselves.

Chief Executive, Alexander Campbell was awarded the medal in the latter category, for services to the care and welfare of retired merchant seafarers.

Alexander said he was very honoured to receive such a prestigious award; he felt humbled to be receiving a medal as a non seafarer, and that in many respects he was just doing what needed to be done in terms of modernising the ‘Queen Vic’ and providing retired seafarers with the best accommodation possible.

Ayshford Sansome supports award winning manufacture to scoop top prize

Ayshford Sansome would like to congratulate Monodraught Ltd on winning the Ashden Award for Green Innovation 2013 for their Cool-Phase low-energy cooling and ventilation system.

The Ashden Awards recognise organisations that are cutting carbon, reducing poverty, and improving lives in the UK and developing world.

The Cool-Phase system uses phase-change material (PCM) technology in a thermal energy store to maintain temperatures within a comfort zone, and reportedly reduces energy consumption by up to 90% compared to conventional cooling systems. Indoor air quality is also improved as the system monitors and responds to CO2 and humidity levels.

Prior to the judges announcing their decision, Ayshford Sansome had the pleasure of demonstrating the system in action to the Ashden judging panel on a visit to their the recently completed Centre of Excellence for Building Services at Prospects College, Basildon. The concept for the college’s design was to maximise natural ventilation and daylight to all areas and integrates Monodraught’s Cool-Phase system as well as their Windcatcher systems to provide natural ventilation and cooling to classroom, office and student restaurant facilities.

Our heritage of success continues!

Ayshford Sansome were very proud to receive a winners award from the Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation for the new Salvation Army Hall which was completed in December last year.  Barrie, along with members of the Letchworth Corps, was on hand to collect the prize from Paul Palmer, one of the competition judges on Wednesday evening.

Mr Palmer, an archaeologist, lecturer and board member of the Heritage Foundation,  hailed the replacement hall for its ‘sympathetic design and high quality of detailing’.  The project stood apart from most of the competition entries due to its contemporary design and it was a therefore a pleasant surprise to have won in a competition designed to promote the protection and preservation of buildings and environmental features of historic interest in Letchworth.

The Army’s replacement hall on Norton Way South was hailed for its sympathetic design and good detailing.

Ayshford Sansome takes IIP Bronze

Ayshford Sansome’s company-wide commitment to quality and delivering great work for clients has been recognised with an Investors in People (IIP) award.  The practice was given a bronze award following in-depth staff and partner interviews, and a complete review of all internal systems and processes.  A standard that less than 5% of UK firms have achieved to date.

Dave Abdul, the company’s IIP auditor confirmed the practice was just a few points short of silver and with some minor process improvements should easily attain this at the next review.
